Libraries in La Porte ISD support student learning across all campuses.

Reading helps students build vocabulary, think critically, and develop a love of learning. Our libraries offer a variety of books and resources to engage students and support their growth.
In alignment with our vision to empower every student to become a lifelong learner and passionate reader, La Porte ISD is committed to ensuring equitable access to library resources while respecting family values. Parents of have the opportunity to personalize their child’s library experience by de-selecting materials that may not align with their family’s preferences.
Together, we can continue to cultivate a meaningful and positive reading experience for every student.

 

 

 

 

Library Parent Partnership

La Porte ISD acknowledges that families hold the primary responsibility for selecting appropriate library materials for their children. Parents and guardians maintain the final authority regarding their child's access to library resources. Campus librarians and teachers are available to assist with any questions or concerns. 

In accordance with state law and district policy, parents may request restrictions on their child's library access or checkout privileges by following the link. Families are encouraged to review available titles through the Destiny Library Catalog to make informed decisions about their child's library use.

Library Materials Acquisition

 

Library materials recommended for purchase will be posted for 30 days to provide staff, students, parents, and community members an opportunity to review and comment on the materials prior to purchase. Comments must be submitted by completing the district’s form, which can be found at the link below. All comments received within the 30-day comment period will be reviewed and considered prior to finalizing the purchase. Materials listed as elementary would also be available to intermediate. materials listed as elementary and intermediate would be available to high schools. All ISBN formats (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, etc.) would be applied for each individual title.
