    LPISD Retirees

    If you are an LPISD Retiree and would like to become a substitute please complete the online substitute application and call the Substitute Office: 281-604-7115.

    SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:

    1. All applicants must complete a Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) consent form as required by law under Section 22.08F of the Texas Education Code. A clear criminal record is a prerequisite for service in La Porte I.S.D.
    2. All applicants must be fingerprinted prior to employment in order to be in compliance with Senate Bill 9.
    3. Must have 3 work references completed with email addresses on the online application. We do not accept references from relatives or friends.
    4. Must have completed a minimum of sixty (60) college hours.
    5. Physically capable of meeting performance responsibilities of the assignment.
    6. Ability and demonstrated aptitude in the interest of students.

    SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONAL/INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE REQUIREMENTS:

    4. Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    5. Physically capable of meeting performance responsibilities of the assignment.
    6. Ability and demonstrated aptitude in the instruction of students.
    7. Clerical experience including typing, word processing, and file maintenance skills. Organizational, communicative, and interpersonal skills. (for clerical positions)
    Steps to become a La Porte ISD substitute
    1. Complete the ONLINE SUBSTITUTE APPLICATION
    2. After applying, the Substitute Office will review your application, check references, and complete a criminal background check.
       
    COMPENSATION
    SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

    Level One Substitute: $95 per day

    Beginning level for all substitutes

    •  Sixty (60) plus college hours and forty (40) plus days as a Level One Substitute
    • 4 year College degree and thirty (30) plus days as a Level One Substitute
    • College degree plus teacher certification and twenty (20) plus days as a Level One Substitute

    Ten (10) positive evaluations on file

    Level Two Substitute$125 per day

    • Sixty (60) plus college hours and thirty (30) plus days as a Level Two Substitute
    • 4 year College degree and twenty (20) plus days as a Level Two Substitute
    • College degree plus teacher certification and ten (10) days as a Level Two Substitute

    Ten (10) positive evaluations on file

    Level Three Substitute$135 per day
         To reach Level 3 you must meet the following criteria:

    • Positive rating on past performance for three or more consecutive years and provide 50 or more days of service per year as a substitute Teacher in La Porte ISD.  To maintain status at $135.00, you must have 10 positive evaluations per year.

    Level Four Long-Term Certified Substitute$280 per day

    • Long-term certified substitute teachers in the same position for 10 consecutive days or more. The $280 is retroactive after the 10th consecutive day.  When the long-term assignment is completed,  you will return to the original certified substitute level.

    Substitute Paraprofessional/Instructional Aides - $10.25 per hour

    Substitute Nurses (RN & LVN)

    LVN -- $110 per day
    RN  - $130 per day

    Substitutes are contacted on an as-needed basis; therefore, it is impossible for La Porte ISD to guarantee definite assignments or any frequency of assignments.  Substitutes must understand that they have agreed to make themselves available to serve La Porte I.S.D. based upon the need for their services.

  • La Porte Independent School District Welcomes Volunteers

    In accordance with the Texas Education Code, Section 22.083, La Porte ISD may obtain criminal history record information on an individual who has indicated, in writing, an intention to serve as a volunteer. Completion of the online volunteer application at lpisd will serve as written intent to serve as a volunteer at a designated La Porte ISD campus and a release to conduct a criminal background information check. Criminal information obtained is confidential and used only for the purpose of ensuring student safety.

    • Detailed instructions are included in the application.

    If you have never completed a volunteer application, you will need to create a new account.

    • Use your full name including your middle name or initial;  Your name must match what is listed on your driver's license or state identification card.
    • Once your online volunteer application has been approved, your name will appear on the campus list(s) you have designated. If necessary, you may contact the campus secretary to confirm your volunteer status.

    Please note that volunteer applications are purged annually; you must re-apply every school year.
