A Bulldog in the Bayou Bowl
Though Teddy Charlery walked across the graduation stage in late May, he put on the helmet and pads one more time on June 8 to represent the La Porte Bulldogs in the Bayou Bowl.
The Bayou Bowl is an annual all-star game featuring senior players from across the Greater Houston area. It is sponsored by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association. Interstate 45 is the dividing line for East and West squads. Participants were selected by a committee of Houston area coaches.
Charlery, a defensive lineman, helped his East squad to a decisive 62-21 win over the West team. The game was played at Barbers Hill ISD’s Eagle Stadium.
The Bayou Bowl isn’t Charlery’s first all-star accolade. He was on the 2023 8-5A All-District Second Team following a season during which the Bulldogs won their first district championship since 2016.
