Lady Dawgs garner postseason softball honors

Nine Lady Dawgs Softball players have been named to the 20-5A All-District Team, including three district superlatives.
Junior Texas A&M commit Kynlee Arechiga was chosen as the district's Most Valuable Player, while Aaliyah Maldonado and Kallie Walker were named Pitcher of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively. Maldonado has signed to play softball for McLennan Junior College next season, while Walker will be entering her senior year of high school.
The 2026 Lady Dawgs advanced to the Regional Finals, where they beat state and national powerhouse Barbers Hill in the first game of a three-game series, but dropped the next two games, ending their season. It was the first time in more than 20 years that La Porte played in the Regional Finals. They are coached by Bryant Upshaw.
