Bulldogs Head Football coach Kevin Berneathy on Dec. 10 was honored by the Touchdown Club of Houston as a finalist for the 2025 Coach of the Year. It was the second straight year he received the recognition. 

Berneathy was among 40 Houston area 4A, 5A and 6A coaches nominated this year and was chosen as one of the top 12 based on the team’s outstanding record and the contributions he has made to La Porte High School and the community.

• 23-5 District record; 33-14 overall record and three District Championships at La Porte; 

• 2024 & 2025 11-5A Coach of the year; 2023 8-5A Coach of the Year; 2022 Dave Campbell's Coach of the Week; 2022 Dave Campbell's Football Team of the Week; 2021 & 2023 Houston Texans Coach of the Week; 2024 GHFCA Coach of the Week; and 2022 & 2023 Houston Touchdown Club Sportsmanship Award Finalist 

• 15 La Porte football players to college; 

• 2024 team all-time La Porte scoring record with 537 points; 

• 2025 #4 ranked team in Texas; 

• 65-24 Career head coaching record;
