La Porte Elementary School nurse Kristy Hanks has been named by the Houston Chronicle as one of Greater Houston’s Top 10 School Nurses of the Year. 

Hanks was among thousands of nursing professionals nominated for the Houston Chronicle Salute to Nurses award, and from this pool, only the top 10 are selected to be honored. 

She is a BSN RN, and before joining La Porte Elementary four years ago, Hanks spent 17 years as an emergency room trauma nurse.  

“Your dedication and impact have been recognized by patients and colleagues alike, who have witnessed your tangible, positive contributions to the nursing community,” said  Deinte Dan-Princewill, senior marketing strategist with the Houston Chronicle. “Houston is truly fortunate to have nurses like you serving our community. 

Hanks will be honored at the Chronicle’s Salute to Nurses Luncheon on April 30 at the River Oaks Country Club.
