La Porte High School’s band program is celebrating a season of remarkable achievements.

The La Porte High School Indoor Drumline this weekend brought home the silver in Open Class at the TCGC State Championships at Sam Houston State University, while the La Porte High School Varsity Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band earned the coveted Sweepstakes award at the 2025 UIL Concert & Sightreading contest, held April 2-3 at Pasadena Dobie High School.

Both bands received composite Division One (superior) ratings from the judges, marking the pinnacle of success in the competition. The JV Concert Band also earned a Division One rating for its outstanding stage performance.

The La Porte High School Band staff is: Director of Bands Jason Harvey, Assistant Director and Percussion Director Mark Fennell, and Assistant Director Wilmaure Mejos. 

The bands are scheduled to perform a spring concert at 7 p.m. on May 8 at Sonja Angelo Theater, on the high school campus.
