La Porte Student-Athletes Punch Tickets to UIL Area Track & Field Championships

Multiple La Porte High School student-athletes have earned the chance to compete at the UIL Area Track and Field Championships for their performances at the 20-5A District Track & Field Championships on Wednesday and Thursday.
The girls’ and boys’ track teams racked up several top three event finishes en route to placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
GIRLS
Savonya Collins qualified for Area with a first-place finish in the 800 and fourth-place finish in the 400.
Aryssa Rodriguez qualified for Area with a first-place finish in the 300 hurdles and second place finish in the 100 hurdles.
Gianna Palomarez qualified for Area with a second-place finish in the 1600 and fourth-place finish in the 3200.
Jordyn Ramirez qualified for Area in the high jump with a second-place finish and placed sixth in the 400 and the long jump.
Kallie Vaughn qualified for Area with a third-place finish in the pole vault.
Simiya Scott qualified for Area in the high jump with a fourth-place finish and placed fifth in the 100 hurdles.
The 4x400 relay of Aryssa Rodriguez, Savonya Collins, Jordyn Ramirez, and Jakayla Glover qualified for Area with a second-place finish.
The 4x200 relay of Annaleigh Williams, Brook Wiggins, Vianney Garza, and Jakayla Glover qualified for Area with a fourth-place finish.
BOYS
Ulises Feliz qualified for Area with his first-place in both the 300 hurdles and the 110 hurdles
Roy Ramirez placed first in the 800 and qualified for Area.
Ryker Reynolds placed second in discus and qualified for Area.
The 4x400 relay of Ashton Ruffin, Peyton Smith, Ulises Feliz, and Roy Ramirez placed second and qualified for Area.
T.J. Green placed fifth in the 1600 and 3200.
Ashton Ruffin and Lewis Johnson placed fifth and sixth in the triple jump, respectively.
The boys’ and girls’ teams are coached by Ashley Stewart and and Carolina Rodriguez, respectively. The Area Track & Field Championships will be held April 9 at Barbers Hill High School.
