The La Porte High School Academic Decathlon team has advanced to State for the third time in four years after winning 20 medals at the Jan. 25 Regional competition. 

The Academic Decathlon is a team competition that challenges students to work together in teams to demonstrate their academic skills. The competition includes a series of events, such as tests, speeches, and interviews.   

La Porte High School’s Academic Decathlon Team members are:

• Steven Rodriguez

• Cesar Perez 

• William Sims 

• Logan Murphy 

• Nico Gibbs 

"We are so excited and proud of all the work this team has done this year,” said Coach Jamie Licon. “This is our third appearance at State since 2021, and we hope to make this an annual academic tradition." 

The State Academic Decathlon is scheduled for Feb. 28 – March 2 in San Antonio and Frisco.
