PreK & Kindergarten Registration

Registration for Pre-K and Kindergarten is open for the 2024-25 School Year. If your child is currently enrolled in Pre-K at La Porte ISD, you do not have to register for Kindergarten. La Porte ISD is an open enrollment district.

Pre-Kindergarten Eligibility Requirements

La Porte ISD offers full-day Pre-Kindergarten (PreK) Programs for students and families who meet the following eligibility criteria:  

  • Child will be four (4) years of age on or before September 1.
  • Child is a resident of the La Porte Independent School District.
  • Child meets immunization requirements and also meets AT LEAST ONE of the following conditions:
    • Child is unable to speak and comprehend the English language (Home Language Survey must be completed), or
    • Child is homeless, as defined by [42 U.S.C./11302], or
    • Child is economically disadvantaged (meets federal income guidelines, documented foster child or food stamp case letter), or
    • Child is of active duty military personnel, activated Guardsmen and Reservists and those service members recovering from injuries sustained in service, or
    • Child was/is/has been in conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing, or
    • Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical first responder.

Required Documents to Enroll in La Porte ISD

To be eligible to register as a student in La Porte ISD, all students must present the following documentation during registration:

  • Proof of Residency – Recent utility bill (water, gas, light) or a lease agreement with parent/guardian’s name and address on it. (copy)

  • Official Birth Certificate (copy)

  • Immunization Records – Including 4yr old vaccines (copy)

  • Social Security Card (copy)

  • Parent/Guardian ID (copy)

Students enrolling in Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) must also present the following documents to verify program eligibility:

  • PK Application

  • Proof of Income – last three check stubs

  •  PK Transportation Bus Form (if applicable)
