La Porte ISD has successfully been certified through the Region 4 School Safety and Security Recognition program, a pivotal initiative designed to enhance the safety and security measures within Texas schools. This long-term support system aims to empower staff while ensuring compliance with the Texas Education Code.  

The certification is the first in Texas and reflects the district's commitment to creating a safe learning environment by participating in comprehensive safety audits and customized training programs. This evidence-based program not only enhances school safety awareness but also builds operational capacity among K12 staff to meet evolving safety standards.  

The Region 4 program provides essential resources, including annual assessments and a District Audit Report, enabling schools to identify vulnerabilities and implement proven solutions. With a team of assessors from diverse public safety backgrounds—ranging from law enforcement to clinical psychology, La Porte ISD benefits from over 25 years of combined experience to enhance our emergency management and school safety skills.  

Moreover, the program includes fire safety standards to ensure compliance with local regulations, further bolstering the safety protocols across all campuses in the district.
