La Porte Elementary School has been honored with the prestigious Gold Ribbon Award by Children at Risk, a Houston-based nonprofit organization that has ranked and graded Texas public schools for 20 years.   

The award is for the school’s 2023-24 performance. 

Children at Risk selects Gold Ribbon Award recipients based on comprehensive criteria that include academic performance, school culture, leadership, and community involvement. La Porte Elementary stood out for its exceptional academic growth, dedication to meeting the diverse needs of its students, and strong partnerships with parents and the local community. 

The award is part of Children at Risk’s annual school evaluation program, which highlights top-performing schools in Houston and across the state of Texas. The Gold Ribbon Award is considered one of the highest honors a school can achieve in the region.
