Russell Schoppe

Russell Schoppe brings four years of experience serving on the La Porte Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, including a term as vice president. A graduate of La Porte High School, Schoppe earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Houston.

Schoppe's career spans 31 years as a teacher and coach at Fairmont Junior High School, in addition to 11 years coaching the City of La Porte Summer Track program. His extensive background in education and coaching reflects his commitment to enhancing the quality of education within La Porte ISD.

In addition to his professional achievements, Schoppe has been actively involved in community service. He previously served as president of the Spencer Landing Homeowners Association and has been a significant contributor to the La Porte Boys Baseball Association.

Schoppe has been married to Johanna Schoppe for 24 years. The couple has two children: Ryan Schoppe, who is a student-athlete at Oklahoma State University, and Reese, who serves as a student equipment manager at the University of Arizona.
